I don’t believe in the fear of presenting and public speaking. We fear it as much as we fear anything else we are not used to do on a regular basis. The more we realize that public speaking and presentations are something we regularly do – when we present ourselves, when we speak at meetings, when we network, when we go to job interviews – the easier it gets.
Great presenters and speakers weren’t born great. They practised. A lot! Think about the other skills you may have and master: were your born riding a bike, or did you learn it by practicing, over and over again? Driving? Writing documents on your computer? Creating Excel charts?
Just like with any other habit we have, the more we practise, the easier it gets and the less anxious we feel about it.
