Module 2 – Skills Gym

This module is for the ones who want to take care of their skills the way they take care of their body, or car, or mind: regularly. Going to the gym once a year doesn’t bring visible results, does it? Washing our car once a year doesn’t make it clean the rest of the time, does it? Meditating or doing Yoga or going to mindfulness events once a year don’t make us mindful, do they? It’s the same with our personal skills: train them regularly, and they will be there for you when you need them – you will start seeing them.

Let’s say you want to improve your public speaking skills, while you also have some good meeting skills. Your meeting skills of building rapport and listening to others are very good, and you feel comfortable using them. But your speaking skills muscle isn’t that strong, because you don’t feel like you really get your point across the way you mean to, or you don’t feel like you articulate your proposals, suggestions, solutions, clearly enough. So we work on building stronger speaking skills that support your rapport and listening skills even more, making your meetings more successful – either negotiating with a client or discussing strategy with your management team or talking to your child’s teacher at school.

So this is the module where I become your personal coach. This is where we really get down to work, and you become a member of my ‘skills gym’, and get:

  • individual, personalized feedback on your strong and dormant skills muscles
  • personalized exercises to work out your skills muscles
  • specific coaching on what you can do from one session to another
  • identification of other skills muscles you may want to work on

This is where the real workout begins. Because what we want to do here is minimize the gap between your strong muscles and the dormant ones, so that the latter category supports your strong muscles, so that together all these muscles bring more benefits in your personal and professional life.

This module usually takes between 8 to 12 sessions to complete, depending on how many skills muscles we’re working on. We meet once or twice a week, depending on your availability and emergency.
